How to install our WordPress plugin

To install the GetTerms WordPress plugin, follow the steps below.

Download the Plugin

You can download the latest version of the plugin (.zip file) from your GetTerms dashboard. The download link is available in two locations:

Option A: Via the Policy Viewer

1. Log in to your GetTerms dashboard.
2. Select any of your policies.

3. Click “Embed live policy.”

   

4. A window will open with instructions for embedding your policy, including a link to download the WordPress plugin.

   

Option B: Via the Installation Tab of the Cookie Consent Platform

1. Go to the Installation tab of your Cookie Consent platform.

2. Find and click the download link for the WordPress plugin.

   

3. The plugin will be downloaded as a .zip  file named getterms-cookie-consent-and-policies.zip  .

2. Install the Plugin on WordPress

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.

2. In the sidebar menu, go to Plugins > Add Plugin.

   

3. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the page.

   

4. Drag the .zip  file into the upload area or use the Choose File button to select it manually.

   

5. Click Install Now.

6. Once installed, you'll find you are unable to activate our plugin until you've installed and activated WP Consent API to activate the plugin. WP Consent API is a highly trusted plugin that standardizes the communication of accepted consent categories between our banner and other plugins.

   

7. Once you've installed and activated WP Consent API, activate our plugin.

   

8. Next, select 'Settings' to start setting up our plugin.

   

9. Input your token, found in your dashboard

   

Enabling the consent banner via our plugin

To enable your consent banner, toggle either:

1. Quick add: "Automatically Embed in English (US)"

   

2. Manually add: "Embed Widget Manually (Supports multilingual options)". Click the embed toggle for the language you wish to enable. Only enable one language at a time.
